SACO, Maine (AP) — Police report a robbery at a bank in Saco and say they arrested a suspect minutes later.
Investigators quote bank officials as saying a man entered the TD Banknorth on Scammon Street on Wednesday morning and handed a teller a note demanding money. The robber fled with several thousand dollars.
The Portland Press Herald says police arrived at the scene and arrested 47-year-old Scott Jeffrey McKenney of Saco, who was a few blocks away and walking from the area.
Police said they recovered the money that was reported stolen.
McKenney is being held on $100,000 cash bail on a robbery charge. He could be arraigned as early as Thursday.
