The experiences, emotions, thoughts, and abilities that emerge while a person is playing the game of softball is tremendous. You can learn so much, about the sport and yourself as an athlete and a teammate. To start off the season the team will learn batting, pitching, overhand and under for those who want to try, catching, sliding, and many other drills to complete to be ready to play in games. Tripp’s softball team plays around every region in Maine. After so much hard work and practicing that our team had done last year, it all paid off. Our team ended up third best in the league. We had amazing players along with spectacular coaches. The coaches and former players are expecting and hoping for the same, or even better results, this year. With a new set of seventh graders coming to the Tripp Middle School softball teams, and also new eighth grade students, this season will be one of the best yet,
This year we are encouraging people to play whether they have even heard of the sport or not. Last year we didn’t have enough players for two teams and so many people missed out on the fun. Softball is a great way to learn the bonds of friendship, sport, character, and to keep in shape. The 2008 softball season was a great hit. Tripp played Lewiston, Auburn, Mt. Ararat, Brunswick, Oxford Hills, and more. Our team will play these teams again and we plan on trying our hardest, although this is not possible without a team.
Last year’s softball team members who still attend Tripp Middle School are Mariah Treadwell, Sarah Pare, Kaitlyn Ledwell, Sydney Nadeau, and myself. We are trying as best we can to convince people to play. Many students have agreed and are planning to try out this year. Whether tryouts will be held or not is unknown, but if there are it will take place some time in the middle of March. The future softball players for TMS are ecstatic; all my fellow student athletes and coaches are anxious to start the new spring season and try our hardest, play our best, and have a sensational season.
