LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn SCORE chapter will present “Buying & Valuing a Business – A Seminar for Buyers” on April 30 from 1-4 p.m. at the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce Community Room, 415 Lisbon St.
Glen Cooper, president of Maine Business Brokers in Portland, will conduct the seminar, which will cover aspects of buying a business by exploring seven areas: essentials required to buy a business; ways to finance a business purchase; how to search for a business for sale; areas that should be probed while investigating a business; questions to ask before buying a business; concepts of valuing a going business; and valuation rules of thumb and where they come from.
In addition to business brokerage and business appraisal, Cooper has an extensive background in commercial and investment real estate. He was southern Maine’s first certified commercial investment member of the Realtors’ National Marketing Institute of the National Association of Realtors from 1985 to 1992.
