Issue: Time Warner Cable is looking to extend phone lines into the Turner area and requested the board support its request to the Public Utilities Commission.

The Scoop: The board voted to not sign the proposed resolution.

Up Next: Time Warner will file its application to the PUC without support from the town of Turner.

Estate settlement

Issue: An unsettled bequest regarding the will of Charles Cummings, between Turner’s East Hebron Cemetery and Hebron Cemetery in Hebron.

The Scoop: Cummings’ will named East Hebron Cemetary as beneficiary, though his family ties are to East Hebron Cemetery. The board voted to sign a release allowing the executors of the will to release the funds to East Hebron Cemetery.

Up Next: Turner will receive $10,000 for settling the bequest and the money added to the Cemetery Trust Fund.

FEMA Grant

Issue: FEMA grant for damage in the December 2008 ice storm.

The Scoop: The board requested a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for damage connected to the storm and last week received $58,489.
