BRUNSWICK – Leon L. LaPlante, 91, a resident of Pejepscot Terrace in Brunswick, formerly of New Auburn, died Sunday, April 12, at Parkview Hospital.

He was born in Auburn, Aug. 23, 1917, the son of Auguste and Claudia (Ouellette) LaPlante. He married Gertrude Thibeault in Auburn on Oct. 26, 1946.

Prior to his retirement, he worked in the local shoe industry. He was a member of the New Auburn Senior Citizens, American Legion Post 153 and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include one nephew, Robert G. Beaudoin of Brunswick; one niece, Claire Mitchell and husband, Richard, of Brunswick; one great-nephew, Lee Gagnon and wife, Laurie and two great-grandnieces, Kristi and Brittany Gagnon, all of Portland, who were all the love of Leon’s life.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude in 1988.
