NEW YORK (AP) – Police and witnesses say a 9-year-old boy apparently was wearing a homemade parachute when he plunged to his death from a Brooklyn building roof.

Domori Miles apparently cobbled the apparatus together out of a plastic bag and rope before jumping off his 13-story apartment building Tuesday night. The items were found near his body on the ground in the Albany Houses complex.

Resident Jeffery Banks tells the Daily News he saw the boy fly by his window. Domori’s mother told police she had run out to a store.

The city Housing Authority, which owns the complex, says the roof is fenced and off-limits to residents.
