MERIDEN, Conn. – Frank J. Gruz, 85, of Grantham Road, Wallingford, Conn., beloved husband of the late Celia M. Rusczek Gruz, died Sunday, April 12, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

He was born in Wallingford, May 17, 1923, a son of the late Stephen J. Gruz Jr. and Helen Salko Gruz. He had been a lifelong Wallingford resident and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He had been employed by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Co. in Wallingford for many years, until his retirement. He had served as a Wallingford Auxiliary policeman for 28 years and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.

He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Mordarski and her husband, Werner, of Wallingford; his son, Steven Gruz and his wife, Joline, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Steven Mordarski and his wife, Jody, Derek Mordarski and his wife, Sarah, Celia Mordarski, Katie Gruz and Nathan Gruz; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Matilda Gruz and Mary Angirsani.
