AUBURN – Jeannine A. Toussaint, 79, of 36 Webster St., Lewiston, died Wednesday, April 15, at Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston, April 18, 1929, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucie Joly Langlois. She was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated from Ecole Superieure High School, Class of 1945.

She worked in the shoe industry for several years and retired after 15 years of service from Sears & Roebuck Department Store in the early 1990s.

She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, St. Peter’s Society and volunteered for her church and the beano committee. She enjoyed playing cards, volunteering at her church, doing crossword puzzles, music, and dancing with her husband. She loved spending any time with her family. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her wonderful cooking, especially her tapioca pudding, and her generous spirit.

She is survived by her husband, Romeo O. Toussaint of Lewiston, whom she married Sept. 6, 1952; two daughters, Suzanne L. McMackin and husband, Paul, of St. George, and Denise I. Desgrosseilliers and husband, Gregory, of Stafford, Va.; two sons, Robert R. Toussaint of Sabattus and Donald N. Toussaint and wife, Pamela, of Lewiston; her grandchildren, Jared and Duane Edwards, Matthew and Emily Desgrosseilliers, Jason, Amanda and Chad Toussaint; a sister, Gisele Auger of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Alice Plourde, Irene Poirier and Lucienne Langlois; and her two brothers, Edmond and Lionel Langlois.

The family thanks Dr. Roger Austin and the staff of Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and the staff at CMMC for the wonderful care they gave her during her last days.
