LEWISTON – Safe Haven of Androscoggin County and Volunteers of America of New England are working with an Auburn Web developer to establish a searchable Web site that will list jobs suitable for teenagers in Androscoggin County.

They are seeking the assistance of 13 to 17 year olds within Androscoggin County to enter a “Name That Web Site” contest, with the winner awarded $150.

Lewiston Recreation Director Maggie Chisholm, who also chairs Safe Haven of Androscoggin County, said, “This site will help teens find seasonal, part-time, evening and weekend positions with flexible schedules that allow them to work around school and after-school activities.”

Features of the Web site will include a searchable database of part-time, seasonal and full-time temporary jobs available in Androscoggin County; a build-your-own resume wizard; tips and suggestions about starting a first job, managing money, interview techniques, safety tips, resume pointers and ideas for how to be successful on the job and in a future career.

To enter the contest, visit http://tinyurl.com/jobsforandroteens and submit suggestions online. Those submitting should be between the ages of 13 and 17, must live in Androscoggin County and the winning participant must show proof of residence.

The contest submission deadline is May 15, and the winner will be announced June 1, followed by a July 1 Web site launch.
