LEWISTON – Grimmel’s Service Station at 681 Lisbon St. is celebrating its 65th year in business with a special customer appreciation day Saturday, April 25.
From 1944 to 1962, the business was operated by brothers Joseph Grimmel and Paul Grimmel. In 1962, Richard Grimmel bought the station from his brothers and ran it until 1968, when he sold it to his nephew, Jim Grimmel, who had been working there 13 years.
To celebrate the 65th year under the same family, Grimmel has planned a celebration from 8 a.m. to noon. It will include free gifts to the first 500 customers purchasing gas and the chance for customers to win one of 10 $100 bills in a drawing at the end of the day.
