Dear Sun Spots: In response to the person requesting magazines and catalogs to distribute to nursing homes, I have many to give. Please have them call Dot at 353-8793. – Dot, Lisbon.

Dear Sun Spots: If the person is still looking for magazines to take to nursing homes, I have “Family Circle,” “Better Homes and Gardens,” “Readers Digest” and “Guidepost,” if they are interested. I live out of town but I am usually in Lewiston-Auburn at least once a week so I could meet them somewhere. My phone number is 933-2845. Thank you. – Louella, Wales.

Dear Sun Spots: I am writing to you because I am trying to plan an event to promote homeless awareness and to help raise money for the homeless. I am the vice president of Lewiston High School’s Key Club, which does community service projects around Lewiston-Auburn.

We would really like to get a person that has somehow been affected by homelessness to speak at our event. If you know of anyone that could help us out, it would be greatly appreciated! It’s for a great cause! Thank you so much for all of your help. – Chelsea Hebert, Lewiston.

Answer: Consider contacting Kaileigh Tara, the former Lewiston mayor who was featured in a Sun Journal story by staff writer Bonnie Washuk on Sunday, March 29. She has been affected by homelessness and would be happy to speak with you about the event. She told Sun Spots that she, too, was a Key Club member the first year girls were allowed to join. She may be reached through e-mail at kaileigh@kaileighatara.info.

Dear Sun Spots: As we are gearing up for our seventh annual benefit yard sale, we are once again asking for readers’ help. Our lawn sale date is July 27 through Aug. 4, on Route 4 in Strong.

This year, proceeds will be going to help organizations dedicated to the needs of animals. Money raised will be split between the Animal Shelter and ‘Paws for Cause. They would use the money for spading, neutering and providing food for pets, whose owners can’t afford to feed or alter their animals.

Any readers who have leftover lawn sale items they would like to donate would be very much appreciated. We would be willing to travel to pick up these donations. For pickup arrangements please call Mary White at 684-2166. – Mary White, Strong.
