Local 4-H members serve in page program

AUGUSTA – Bronwyn and Simeon Gray of Lewiston, 4-H members, served as honorary pages during UMaine Day at the Legislature on March 12.

The Honorary Page program gives youth an opportunity to participate in the legislative process and to interact with Legislators when the Maine House of Representatives is convened.

Under the supervision of the Sergeant-At-Arms and Chamber staff, they had the opportunity to see what it was like to work on the floor of the House and be part of a legislative session. They performed duties such as delivering messages to Legislators, distributing amendments and supplements in the Chamber and met with Gov. John Baldacci.

Youth in Governance is one of the mission mandates of the 4-H youth development program. For more information about 4-H opportunities in Androscoggin County, contact Extension Educator Kristy Ouellette at 353-5550 or visit www.extension.umaine.edu
