AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A 42-year-old junior high school science teacher will appear in court in May on a charge of possessing child pornography on his school computer.

Michael Douglas of Augusta faces a felony charge of possession of sexually explicit materials that depict children younger than 12.

The Kennebec Journal reported that Douglas resigned earlier this month from Mount View Junior High School in Thorndike.

According to a Maine State Police affidavit, the school district’s superintendent called police reporting that Douglas’ state-issued computer had child pornography on it. The affidavit said Douglas admitted downloading pornography on his school and home computers for years.

Douglas did not return a phone call from the newspaper.
