WALDOBORO, Maine (AP) — A 27-year-old woman who was stabbed to death in a van after she drove into a driveway in Waldoboro had sought a protection from abuse order weeks earlier against a woman she identified as her spouse.
The Bangor Daily News said Rachel Grindal was granted a temporary protection order March 23 but a permanent order was later dismissed after she failed to appear for a scheduled hearing.
Grindal’s request said the target of the protection order had a history of violence. In the space on the form indicating the plaintiff’s relationship to the defendant, Grindal had checked the box for “spouse.”
Another woman was critically injured in the Sunday evening attack that killed Grindal. No one has been arrested.
