Yankees fans will be walking by Maine granite when they walk into the new $1.5 billion dollar Yankee Stadium this spring.
The granite, was quarried from New England Stone’s Crotch Island quarry off the tip of Deer Isle. According to an article in Working Waterfront, the quarry produces 55,000 to 75,000 cubic feet of granite per year, 8 million pounds of which went to the stadium which opened April 15.
