Montello Title I Coordinator



Online quizzes, dice and card games and cereal graphs were among the activities 52 families enjoyed recently at the Montello Elementary School family math night.

The school’s Title I staff and the Montello PTFC sponsored the March 5 event at the school, where families participated in a variety of math activities. Students and their families worked through three of the nine stations that were facilitated by the Title I staff.

The computer math station familiarized families with www.quizhub.com, which can be accessed from home by all Montello students. Graphing Lucky Charms was another station where families worked together graphing all the shapes in Lucky Charm cereal. Dice games and card games gave students and their families a chance to practice addition, subtraction and multiplication facts in a fun way. Creating snowman glyphs was a way to use shapes and different materials to create something that showed each person’s individuality.

Ten people won door prizes consisting of a variety of mathematical thinking games. The Montello PTFC provided cookies and punch for the crowd.
