BREWER – Mt. Blue outplayed Brewer for every inning but one, but that one inning was the difference. Brewer scored all nine runs in the fifth inning for a 9-4 triumph over the Cougars in KVAC baseball action Saturday.

In the decisive inning, the Witches (1-0) had eight of their 10 hits and Mt. Blue committed all four errors. An Eric White triple and a Billy Bissell double to start the inning set the tone.

The Cougars rallied in the seventh when Brad Dority knocked in a pair of runs with a one-out double, but Mt. Blue (1-1) left runners on second and third when reliever Jordan Richards recorded the final out.

Alec Wallace also hit a double for the Cougars, while Dority and Dylan Vining had two apiece.
