AUBURN – What looked like a suspicious package turned out to be two batteries taped together Sunday in the Wal-Mart Superstore parking lot on Mount Auburn Avenue.
Authorities in Auburn were called to investigate the report of a suspicious looking device at 11:13 a.m. Sunday. The package was located in the parking lot in front of the store near where the Lowe’s parking lot begins.
According to a press release issued by the Auburn Police Department, this area was roped off by police and a bomb squad from the Maine State Police responded to the scene. The item was determined not to be a bomb or a hazard, and the parking lot was re-opened at 12:45 p.m.
