Minot – V. Jeanette ( Jean ) Harris, 81, of Minot, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 25, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lewiston, March 30, 1928, the daughter of Willis M. and Lela E. Moores Moody. She graduated from Edward Little High School in the class of 1946. On Dec. 5, 1947, she married Amos F. Harris, who died July 31, 1999. Jean was a homemaker and had worked with Amos and Steve wrapping meat for 50 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Street Baptist Church in Mechanic Falls, where she had been a deaconess, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and served on the social committee. She enjoyed her truck and tractor and until her illness would take long walks every day. She and Amos enjoyed working in their rose and vegetable gardens. Her grandchildren remember she loved being called “Gram” by everyone, playing the piano and singing with them and her gingerbread molasses cookies at Christmas. Her door was always open and everyone was welcome. She loved to make bread.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeannette Gray and her husband, M. Pete, of Minot and Judith Goss and her husband, Tom, of West Poland; a son, Arthur of Minot; a sister, Olive Libby of Auburn; six grandchildren, Sgt. Andrew J. and Heather Gray, Bethany and Ray Morrissette, John and Cherryl Goss, Rebecca and Scott Jameson, Susan Goss and James Gregoire; six great-grandchildren, Joel, Micah, Issac and Anna Goss, Mason and Kolten Morrissette; a special son, Stephen Harris; and a special daughter, Pauline Gregoire; and several nieces and nephews.

Jean was predeceased by a son, Kenneth, in 1970; a brother, Willis Moody, in 1991; and a sister, Marjorie Verrill, in 2009.
