All workshops begin promptly at listed times. Registration is required.

A community college adviser is available every Monday from noon to 4 p.m. to talk about options to attend college. He will help explore college choices based on interests and career goals.

CareerCenter Employment and Training Orientation will be held every Monday, except May 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. An explanation of training programs and career exploration, this workshop also provides a brief introduction to the Wilton CareerCenter services.

CareerCenter and Job Search Orientation meets every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon. Find out what services and resources the Wilton CareerCenter has to offer folks newly unemployed or looking for a new career. This is an overview of what is available at the CareerCenter to assist people who are looking for work. Attendees may also become registered for the CareerCenter job-matching system by the end of the workshop.

Preparing Your Resume for Online Applications is offered May 4 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and May 18, 1:30 to 3 p.m., for helping customers format their resume so it can be attached to an online application. Please bring work and educational history.

Resume Writing, is May 11 from 1:30-3 p.m. A résumé and cover letter is a reflection of knowledge, skills and abilities. Explore the basics of résumés and applications and learn what can make a résumé or application stand out. Please bring work and educational history.

Ace That Interview! will be offered May 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. Learn how to prepare for a successful job interview. Learn to promote the qualifications that directly match what the employer needs. Be prepared for the “tough” questions and able to answer them with confidence. Obtain tips on how to dress and what to take along to the interview.

Creating Your Professional Portfolio will be offered May 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. Creating a personal portfolio allows a person to document the acquisition of knowledge, skills and expertise. It is an important record that will be useful in a job search and career planning, or in the pursuit of higher education. This workshop will outline the process and help attendees create this important document.

CareerCenter Youth Orientation is offered May 14 from 10 a.m. to noon and May 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. It is for youths looking for a job who need some guidance about which careers might fit best. The youth orientation, for ages 16-21, will introduce attendees to services at the Wilton CareerCenter.

MEOC101 – Essentials Of College Planning, will be offered May 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will give instructions on filling out financial aid forms to assist in getting the maximum amount in grants or loans. People must preregister by calling 1-800-281-3703.

O*Net Ability Profiler will require five or more people to be held. This is a career exploration tool that helps clients plan work lives using a paper and pencil format with optional apparatus parts and computerized scoring. Results may be used to identify strengths for which more training/education is needed, and to identify occupations that fit their strengths.
