Mom, son dance
JAY – George Bunten Post 10, American Legion, and Auxiliary of Livermore Falls are sponsoring a Mother and Son Dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Jay Middle School gym.
The cost is $10 for a mother and accompanying sons. Refreshments will be provided. Photos will be available.
All proceeds will go for Boys and Girls State and children’s youth programs. For more information, call Evelyn at 897-5003.
Society to meet
FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogical Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, in the Farmington Public Library. The program topic will be the 1890 veterans’ census. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome.
Hike night
JAY – The Recreation Committee is sponsoring a contest for students to name 11 trails on the recreation land behind the schools.
The committee has set up a hike night at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, with people meeting at the field hockey field. Children and parents may get a look at the 11 trails to be named then..
Jay teacher and Recreation Committee Chairman Rob Taylor is also looking items to benefit the Jay Outdoor Education Project.
Items needed include landscaping timbers, tools, rakes, shovels, pruning shears, hand-saws and and eight used motor-cross motorcycle tires for the Project Adventure Course.
