ORONO, Maine (AP) — A company co-founded by a University of Maine graduate has plans to build a luxury student-housing complex in Orono with roughly 200 apartments that could house 500 students.
The Bangor Daily News reported that Campus Crest Communities of Charlotte, N.C., has announced plans to build a complex called The Grove at Orono that would be ready for occupancy in the fall of 2010.
Michael Hartnett, a 1981 Maine graduate, helped found Campus Crest five years ago. The company says it has built student-housing complexes in a dozen other states and has more in the pipeline.
The company said it is now gathering permits and plans to break ground this fall.
