LEWISTON – Robert C. Grover Jr, 52, of Poland died Monday, May 4, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Boothbay Harbor, on June 11, 1956, the son of Robert and Evelyn (Cronk) Grover.
He attended Pine Tree Academy in Freeport, where he graduated in 1974. He spent his childhood in Wiscasset and later moved to the Oxford Hills area, where he made his home. He has been employed at Bath Iron Works since 1989.
He married his wife, Jill, on Sept. 1, 2007, at the family’s camp on Damariscotta Lake. He was quite an outdoorsman, spending much of his time hunting, fishing or just enjoying the outdoors. He had a love for auto racing, especially NASCAR.
He spent nights working as part of a pit crew, driving or simply being a spectator at Oxford Plains Speedway. He also enjoyed horse racing.
He loved taking long drives up north with his dedicated wife Jill and his cherished dog Emmy. Some of his fondest memories include spending time doing any of his favorite things with his two children, Justin and Kim.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Evelyn Grover; his children, Justin and Kim Grover; his wife, Jill Grover; three brothers, Tim Grover and wife, Delia, Roni Grover and wife, Jeanne, and Jimmy Grover; two stepsons, Kyle and Chet Martin; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by a sister, Suzanne Grover; grandparents, Suzy and Oscar Cronk, and Minnie and Leon Grover.
