GARDINER — Audition dates have been set for the Johnson Hall Whatever Week Talent Show, held in Gardiner Waterfront Park. The auditions will be held on from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 16 and again from 5 to 7 p.m., on  Monday, May 18 at Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center, 280 Water St., Gardiner. All ages and all talents are welcome to try out.

Acts will be auditioned in the order of arrival; advance registration is not required. However, please call Johnson Hall to advise which day you will be auditioning.

A limited number of acts will be chosen to perform at the show to be held on the evening of June 20 on the Gardiner waterfront. Four prizes will be awarded: grand prize: $200; and 1st and 2nd prize: $100 each; junior (12 years and under) prize: $100. (For the junior prize, all participants must be 12 or under.)

All audition applicants should bring their accompanying music, if required. Karaoke will not be allowed, so any CDs or tapes should have the music only. No voices or back-up singers are allowed on the CD. Audition pieces should be presented complete with costumes and/or props, exactly as you would appear at the show itself. Bands, dancers, and other kinds of performances are welcome, as well.

No one will be accepted into the talent show without an audition. Competitors in the talent show must be amateurs; if you have ever earned a portion of your living from your talent, you will not be eligible to enter the contest.

Audition applications available at Johnson Hall and can be downloaded from their Web site at www.johnsonhall.org. Applications can also be found at Gardiner Public Library and Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce, Augusta. Applications can be brought to the audition or filled out at the audition. Please call 582-7144 for more information or to sign up for an audition day.
