West Paris – Elmer James Waterhouse, 101, of West Paris, died May 1.

He was born at Paris on Jan. 30, 1908, the son of Fred W. and Lucinda (Martin) Waterhouse and was educated in West Paris schools, graduating from West Paris High, class of 1925, and had worked as a carpenter/painter most of his life. He married Eda M. Wilson on June 29, 1929, she died on May 9, 2007.

Elmer is survived by two daughters, Geraldine Austin of Jefferson, Texas and Gloria Fleming of West Paris; one son, Dwight Waterhouse of Collegedale, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife; he was predeceased by one son, Wayne; a daughter, Glenda Estrada; three brothers, Frank, Fred Jr. and George; and four sisters, Nellie Noyes, Myrtle Downing, Fannie Cummings and Elizabeth Strothner.
