Emergency personnel wait for a wrecker to clear the scene of an accident Monday afternoon on Hotel Road near Merrow Road in Auburn. A 1999 Chevy Lumina driven by Jennifer Fournier, 19, of Norway, collided with an oncoming Hart Transportation rig. Fournier was checked at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, while her 5-month-old daughter escaped injury. The semi’s driver, William Brown, 48, of Oxford, also escaped injury. “We were very lucky on this,” said Auburn Police Officer Stephen Burns, the responding officer. “It could have been a fatal.” The accident was reported at 2:10 p.m. and snarled traffic on the busy road for just more than an hour. Both vehicles were totaled, according to Burns.
