SOUTH PORTLAND (AP) – South Portland officials say they’re putting a veteran city employee on paid administrative leave pending a review of his department’s finances.
City Manager James Gailey told the Portland Press Herald on Monday that he decided Friday to put Dana Anderson, the city’s director of Parks and Recreation, Public Works and Libraries, on an indefinite leave of absence.
The decision came weeks after Anderson settled an embezzlement lawsuit by the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials. Anderson paid $900 last month to the nonprofit group, which had accused him of stealing more than $37,500 from it while he was its secretary and treasurer.
Anderson has not been charged with a crime and has denied the allegation.
