THOMASTON (AP) – Dragon Products is halting production at its cement plant in Thomaston for four to six weeks because of the slowdown in the construction market.

Plant manager Ray DeGrass said an undetermined number of the plant’s 110 employees will be temporarily laid off during the shutdown, which begins May 25. About 20 percent of the work force was laid off permanently in January.

DeGrass told the Bangor Daily News that demand for cement this year is down more expected.
