FARMINGTON – Cody Craig of Farmington Mat Cats traveled to Syracuse N.Y., to compete in the annual Gene Mills Eastern National Tournament. Craig took first place out of 16 wrestlers in the Midget 54-pound division.
Craig qualified to compete in the event by placing third or better at one of many pre-qualifying events throughout the Eastern U.S. He attends fourth grade at Cascade Brook Elementary School.
Also, Jacob Craig copped second place in the Bantam 40-pound division. He is a kindergarten student at Mallett School.
Several other Maine wrestlers competed.
Cody Hughes captured top honors in the Junior 100-pound class. Ethan Boucher of Mountain Valley in Rumford wrestled Junior 72-pound and took second. Ian Austin of Rumford finished fourth in the Junior 90 division.
