FRYEBURG – Judith Elizabeth Dyer, 74, of Portland, died Tuesday, May 12.

She was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Worcester, Mass., a daughter of Otis Grant and Margaret Faulkner Gray. She was a graduate of Rockport Maine High School. She furthered her education at the University of Maine at Farmington and was a 1956 graduate.

She married Roderic V. Dyer on Aug. 10, 1957. He predeceased her on Nov. 5, 1995. She was a teacher at the Pond Cove Elementary School. She left teaching to raise her family. She was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Church. She was a former member of the choir and also a cantor. She was involved with the Friends of the Thomas Memorial Library; a former president and member of UMF Alumni Council; past president and active member of the Jaycee Wives’.

Surviving are two daughters, Katharine D. and her husband, Richard Pyne, of Roanoke, Va., and Margaret Dyer of Fryeburg; a son, Timothy R. Dyer of Bangor; three sisters, Marilyn Gray of Reston, Va., Lisbeth Faulkner of Seal Cove Harbor, and Eileen Gray of South Portland; a brother, O. Michael Gray of Boca Raton, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Meaghan Pyne of Roanoke, Va.

Besides her husband Roderic, she was predeceased by her parents and her three infant children.
