PRESQUE ISLE (AP) – The University of Maine at Presque Isle has picked a windy day to dedicate a 600-kilowatt wind turbine. School officials say it’s the first midsize wind turbine on a university campus in Maine.

State, local and university officials were to attend the ceremony, which will include a presentation on how the new turbine will transform wind into electricity and deliver the power to campus buildings.

Presque Isle campus President Don Zillman and University of Maine System Chancellor Richard Pattenaude are among the invited guests.

The National Weather Service has posted a wind advisory for most of Maine this afternoon and tonight.
