MEXICO – Two juvenile boys are scheduled to appear in juvenile court Aug. 4 on charges related to a rash of recent burglaries.

Mexico Police Department Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said a 15-year-old Rumford boy and a 14-year-old Mexico boy were arrested following a report from a Gleason Street resident that someone had entered his home in the early evening of May 1 and taken $400 in cash.

The boys were arrested May 7 at Mountain Valley Middle School.

The two were arrested on similar burglary charges on May 3 for the theft of $500 cash from a Bucknam Street home.

They had also been charged with a burglary and theft of $10 from Generations, a fitness studio in the Recreation Center, in late April.

Hodsdon said all the money has been retrieved from a hiding place in the woods.

The boys were conditionally released to the custody of their parents.

Police are also investigating a burglary at the Mexico Recreation Center concession stand that was discovered at 7 a.m. May 11. The door, valued at $100, had been broken to gain entry, and an unknown amount of change was taken.

At the same time, the door to the downstairs police department conference and storage room was broken.

It is unknown what was taken.

Police have suspects.
