BUCKFIELD – Sibylle Perry, 56, died Saturday, May 16, at her home in Buckfield.

She was born Feb. 8, 1953, in Nuremberg, Germany, the fourth daughter of Karl and Elke Gebhard. She moved from Germany when she was five years old and lived in various parts of the United States before settling in Maine in her early 20s. She worked with animals all of her life and had a special love for poodles.

She loved the outdoors, especially walking and hiking with her standard poodle, Al. She planted amazing flower gardens that drew the attention and comments of many passers-by. She loved to travel, especially to warmer climates and was happy to see anything new. She was also an avid bargain-hunter, scouring sales racks and yard sales, usually with her husband, Steve, or daughter, Adrienne, by her side.

Last year she was blessed with her first grandchild, William, who was the light of her life. She loved nothing more than spending time with him.

She will long be remembered for her generous nature, adventurous spirit and quick sense of humor and will be missed greatly by her family, her pets and her friends.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 27 years, Stephen Perry of Buckfield; her parents, Karl and Elke Gebhard of Hartford; her daughter, Adrienne Abbott and her husband, Sean, of Gorham; her son, Devon Perry and his wife, Jennifer, of Kentucky; her sisters, Isa Zalaman of Germany, Annette MacMillan of New Jersey, and Bettina Gebhard of Utah; her grandson, William Abbott of Gorham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Ulrike Gaynor; and her nephew, Nicholaus Zalaman.
