BRUNSWICK (AP) – Investigators are seeking the cause of a fire in Brunswick that destroyed a former chicken barn that was being used to store boats and construction equipment.
Fire Chief Clark Labbe said the intense blaze broke out Tuesday afternoon in the 450-foot building near the intersection of Middle Bay and Harpswell roads.
The Portland Press Herald said crews from about a half dozen towns responded to the fire, but the building was engulfed in flames by the time they arrived. In addition, the nearest hydrant was about a mile away.
One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
