LEWISTON – A Lewiston man faces seven charges related to an alleged assault on his pregnant girlfriend and her mother early Tuesday morning.
Lance Felton Richards, 32, of 68 Bradley St. No. 1, was arrested at 3 a.m. and charged with burglary, criminal mischief, cultivating marijuana, domestic violence assault with priors, assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.
Lewiston Police Lt. Michael McGonagle said the incident started at the Bradley Street apartment that Richards shares with his 23-year-old girlfriend, who is nine months pregnant. According to the police report, Richards held the woman against her will and threatened her with a knife after the two got into a physical altercation.
McGonagle said the woman eventually left the residence and went to her mother’s home on Webster Street. Richards followed her there. When the older woman refused to let him in her home, Richards allegedly barged his way in and assaulted her as well.
Officers initially responded to the Webster Street residence for a domestic violence call at 1:52 a.m., but Richards had left by the time officers arrived.
At Richards’ apartment on Bradley Street, police confiscated several marijuana plants growing in 5-gallon buckets, McGonagle said, which led to the cultivation charge.
McGonagle said that neither Richards’ girlfriend nor her mother was seriously hurt during the incident.
