BETHEL – Jason Rosenberg and Levi Brown combined on a five-hitter Sunday, staking the undefeated Athletics to a 9-1 win over the White Sox in Pine Tree League baseball.

Rosenberg (2-0) went six innings, allowing only four hits and the lone run. Brown pitched three innings of shutout, one-hit relief, striking out three without issuing a walk.

The A’s rallied from an early deficit with two runs in the bottom of the third. Josh Aylward was the lone repeat hitter for Bethel.

Dan Coleman led the White Sox with two hits and Auburn’s only run.

Red Sox 15, Pirates 2

WINTHROP – Josh Nichols’ two-run single and Brett Witherell’s bases-loaded double staked Winthrop to a 7-0 lead after two innings Sunday, and the Red Sox rolled to a 15-2 PTL victory over the Pittsfield Pirates.

Torey Carr picked up his second win of the season, hurling seven innings, giving up five hits and striking out 10.

Dennis McHugh, who last pitched in a game in 1981, threw no-hit ball the final two frames, striking out three.

Winthrop’s 15-hit attack included a double and two singles by Bob Cochran.

Other repeat hitters for the Red Sox (3-0) were Witherell, Matt McCarthy, Dave Ricker Jr., Carr and Nichols.

The Pirates’ only repeat hitter was Ryan White with two singles.

Pittsfield is 0-3.
