MECHANIC FALLS – Eva L. Johnson, 76, of Water Street passed away Thursday, May 21, at her home.

She was born in Wayne, on June 12, 1932, a daughter of the late Arthur and Alma (Haley) Cheetham. She was educated in Auburn schools and garduated from Edward Little High School in 1951. She worked for many years at East Auburn IGA as produce manager and later retired from The Minot Country Store.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a marshal for Pine Cone Chapter 26, and a member of the New Auburn Senior Citizens, where she loved to play bingo, at St. Louis Church.

She also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, doing crosswords and spending time with her family. She was the best mom in the world, keeping her family together.

She is survived by daughters, Madelyn Grover of Mechanic Falls, Charlene Beaudry of Auburn, Carol Charest and husband, Ron, of Lewiston and Beth Celleck and fiancé, Brian Berry of Poland; a daughter-in-law, Linda Johnson of Poland; sons, Charles and wife, Holly, of Auburn and Bert of Portland; sisters, Mary Lawlor and husband, James, of Auburn, Beverly Brown and her husbend, Bud of Georgia, and Patricia Duval of Auburn; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Michael Johnson; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Grover.
