NORWAY – Three people were injured Friday morning when a truck and car collided at Crockett Ridge and Round the Pond roads.

According to police, Jonathan Morgan, 31, of Norway, the operator of a 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier, was flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with what appeared to be serious internal injuries. Later Friday night, a nursing supervisor there said she could not release information about the patient.

Morgan’s passenger, Timothy Small, 40, no town available, was taken by PACE ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

Betty Zeegers, 44, of West Paris, the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet pickup, was also taken by PACE ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital.

The hospital had no information on Zeegers late Friday afternoon but was able to confirm that Small was transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Norway Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Yates said firefighters removed Morgan from the car.

State Trooper Paul Casey said it appears the accident occurred around 9:15 a.m. when Zeegers’ was driving south on Crockett Ridge Road near the four-way intersection with Pleasant Street and Round the Pond Road as Morgan was heading east on Round the Pond Road. Morgan either failed to stop or failed to yield and struck the pickup, he said.

The impact sent both vehicles, nose first into an embankment side by side.

“From what we can tell he either stopped or failed to yield. She had the right of way,” Casey said.

Reconstructionists Angela Porter of the state police, Paris police Lt. Michael Dailey and Oxford County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Justin Brown were at the scene.
