After reading Matthew Audet’s story printed on May 16, I wondered: Does the city of Lewiston really care about its youngest citizens?
There are numerous children who are left behind by alcoholic parents every day in Lewiston. Take a walk downtown and you will see them. Do you want to know how the bar owners are staying in business, when others are failing? Visit Lewiston bars and you will see that their busiest time of the month is when the disadvantaged receive their financial assistance.
Addicted adults leave their children behind to go to a bar! Who benefits? The bar owners are getting rich! Consider making Lewiston a dry town, or at least encourage bar owners to give back to the community. They are robbing these children by taking advantage of their parents’ unfortunate choices.
