NEW YORK – Carlos Ruiz hit a two-out RBI double in the 11th inning and Philadelphia overcame another blown save by Brad Lidge to beat the Yankees 4-3.
Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino and Raul Ibanez each drove in a run for Philadelphia, and Ruiz neatly blocked the plate to stop Johnny Damon from scoring early.
The Phillies went 8-2 on their three-city, 10-day trip and improved to a major league-best 16-6 on the road.

CINCINNATI – Alex Gonzalez doubled home the winning run with one out in the 11th inning and the Reds won the all-Ohio series.

CHICAGO – Jack Wilson hit a tying homer off Bobby Jenks with two outs in the ninth inning, then Delwyn Young got the go-ahead RBI single as Pittsburgh finally scored against the White Sox.
Nationals 8, Orioles 5
WASHINGTON – Adam Dunn hit two home runs, including a go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning, for a career-high six RBIs and the Nationals rallied for a victory.

ST. LOUIS – Brian Bannister worked six strong innings and drove in a run and pinch-hitter Mike Jacobs’ RBI single snapped a seventh-inning tie, helping the Royals avoid a three-game sweep in the I-70 interleague series.

ATLANTA – Brian McCann homered twice, pinch-hitter Chipper Jones drove in the go-ahead run with a bases-loaded single in the seventh inning and the Braves beat Toronto to cap a three-game sweep.

SEATTLE – Adrian Beltre and Ken Griffey Jr. homered, leading Felix Hernandez and the Mariners. Griffey hit a two-run homer in the first. It was his 616th career home run.

At OAKLAND, Calif., – Jason Giambi homered a day after reaching the 400 milestone and Landon Powell hit a tiebreaking shot for his first career home run as the Athletics avoided a sweep.

LOS ANGELES – Torii Hunter drove in three runs after a frightening collision with the center-field fence, and the Angels won the rubber game.

SAN DIEGO – Kevin Kouzmanoff homered and had four RBIs, capping the Padres’ first 9-0 homestand.
San Diego’s nine-game winning streak is the longest in the NL this season. Even so, it merely pulled the Padres back to .500.
The Cubs, whose offense disappeared during an 0-6 trip, lost their season-high seventh straight and tumbled to .500. It’s their longest losing streak since May 2006, when they lost eight straight.
