The nation’s political leaders need to answer two questions I have regarding two important issues currently facing the country:
• Guantanamo Bay: No other country in Europe, or anywhere in the world, will take released terrorist prisoners. What happens when those terrorists complete any jail sentence served in the United States, or if they are found not guilty in court? Would they be released to roam this country?
• State officials of California are looking for federal tax dollars to bail their state out after years of reckless spending, while they reject billions of dollars available to them by allowing offshore drilling for oil. Why should the U.S. taxpayer help a state that won’t help itself? Maine has enough financial troubles of its own.
