Dear Sun Spots: Our daughter attends high school out of state. As part of her graduation requirements, she needs to do volunteering. She spends her summers with us in Maine.

She will be furthering her education in the social services field. Could you provide us with a list of places that she could volunteer at? Summer camps or something similar to that. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
To get connected to volunteer opportunities in the area, you can simply call 2-1-1. We also suggest visiting www.volunteermaine.org, where you can search for volunteer opportunities based on location, date or interest. A recent search of basic volunteer positions in Auburn netted more than 160 options.

Dear Sun Spots: Are there any opportunities for adults to play ultimate Frisbee in the Lewiston-Auburn area? If anyone knows of any, or if you are an adult interested in playing pickup games evenings and weekends, please e-mail csm1813@gmail.com. – Cathy, Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: On June 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Ladies Guild of Our Lady of Ransom Church on Elm Street in Mechanic Falls will be having its annual garage sale. Tables can be rented for $15 each or two for $25 by calling Josie Hebert at 345-3274. A light luncheon will be available for purchase. No clothes please, and you must take back what does not sell. – Kathy, Oxford.

Dear Sun Spots: I’m having trouble with getting a signal from Channel 8. I have had a converter box since last fall and have been receiving digital signals on all stations except Channel 10. About three weeks ago I lost all TV channels except channel 13. After having a repairman check it out, he was able to get all channels back except 8 and 51. Is channel 8 having problems with their signal? – No Name, No Town.
