BANGOR (AP) – A Maine man accused of having sex with a 13-year-old he met on a social networking Web site faces charges in New York state.

The Sheriff’s Department in Niagara County, N.Y., and the FBI are charging 19-year-old Charles Dunlop with charges including kidnapping and transporting a minor across state lines for sexual purposes.

Police say Dunlop, who’s from Bangor, Maine, took the girl from her Niagara County home on April 25 and they traveled to Cleveland, and then Erie, Pa., where Dunlop left the girl at a mall.

The Buffalo News says Dunlop was arrested in Ohio a day after the girl was abandoned. Dunlop told authorities he thought the girl was 18. A detention hearing is scheduled for June 6.
