BROOKLIN (AP) – The Coast Guard has suspended its search of Blue Hill Bay for a man believed to have fallen off his 34-foot lobster boat.

The Coast Guard formally suspended the search Tuesday night for 46-year-old Robert Anderson, a fisherman from Sedgwick. His boat was discovered on Monday anchored and idling off after he failed to return home from an overnight camping trip to Flye Island.

The Maine Marine Patrol is scaling back and has pulled its dive team, but a boat and airplane will continue searches over the next couple of days.

Chris Berry, the Coast Guard’s operational unit controller in South Portland, says searchers believe Anderson went over the side of his boat.
