BALTIMORE – Nolan Reimold hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning to cap a second surprising comeback by the Baltimore Orioles, who beat Toronto 12-10 Wednesday to extend the Blue Jays’ losing streak to nine games.

Baltimore trailed 8-3 when Roy Halladay left after seven innings, and 10-8 after Aaron Hill hit a two-run homer off Danys Baez in the top of the 11th.

But after Luke Scott hit an RBI single off Brian Wolfe (1-1) that put runners at the corners with one out, Reimold hit his fourth homer in 13 games since being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk.

Toronto finished the worst road swing in franchise history – three losses apiece in Boston, Atlanta and Baltimore. The Blue Jays never before went winless on a road trip of at least nine games.

Baez (4-1) pitched three innings for the Orioles, who got a home run from Scott and a career-high four hits from Robert Andino in completing a three-game sweep.

Tigers 8, Royals 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Rookie Rick Porcello won his fifth straight start, and Placido Polanco homered and drove in three runs for Detroit.

The Tigers took two of three from the Royals, losing only to Zack Greinke, and increased their lead over KC in the AL Central to four games. The Royals, after a promising April and early May, have lost 13 of 18.

Porcello (6-3) allowed two runs and four hits in six innings. Miguel Cabrera homered and Josh Anderson, the Tigers’ leadoff hitter, had four hits.

Kyle Davies (2-4) gave up eight runs, five earned, and 10 hits in 5 2-3 innings for the Royals.

Mariners 6, Athletics 1

OAKLAND, Calif. – Russell Branyan hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning, Erik Bedard won for the first time in five starts and Seattle avoided a sweep.

Bedard (3-2) and A’s rookie Trevor Cahill (2-5) had strong outings, similar to their matchup here in April. Bedard hadn’t won since April 24 against the Angels in Anaheim.

Oakland’s Bobby Crosby snapped a career-long 72-game, 243 at-bat homerless streak with a drive in the second that tied it at 1, but Oakland could do little else against Bedard. Crosby’s last longball came on Aug. 12, 2008, against Tampa Bay.

Bedard allowed five hits, walked two and struck out five in 6 2-3 innings.

The A’s had their season-best three-game winning streak snapped and haven’t swept a three-game series since Sept. 19-21 at home over the Mariners.

Yankees 9, Rangers 2

ARLINGTON, Texas – A.J. Burnett pitched six shutout innings to win for the first time in six weeks, Hideki Matsui homered twice and the Yankees gained a share of the AL East lead by beating the Rangers.

The Yankees, who have won 12 of 15, are tied atop the division with Boston. It is the first time this season New York has been in first place in the AL East.

Derek Jeter was 3 for 4 and reached base five times, and Mark Teixeira added his 12th homer in May. The Yankees had 15 hits.
