LEWISTON – Melanson Paving won two games in recent Elliot Ave. Little League baseball action.
In the first game, Melanson defeated Dube Flower Shop, 12-6. Devin Harrison led the offense for the Pavers with a double and a triple. Austin Wing, Kyle Morin, Nick Belanger, Carter Chabot and Reid Pomerleau also were repeat hitters for Melanson. Jeremy Rancourt chipped in two RBI. Harrison and K.J. Edwards combined in the pitching effort for the win. For Dube, Eddie Turgeon and Sean Gagnier led the offense.
Round two saw Melanson outlast Rowe Ford, 6-5, in a nine-inning affair. Rowe jumped out to a three-run lead in the bottom of the first with Owen McCarthy and Brady Cusson leading the way. Melanson chipped away at the lead with two runs in the top of the third and another in the top of the fourth.
The score remained tied until the top of the eighth, when Melanson took the lead on a run-scoring single by Noah Withee. The Automen struck back in the bottom of the frame, with the big hit a double by Ty Murphy.
Melanson took the lead for good with two runs in the top of the ninth behind hits from Belanger and Chabot. Rowe scored one in the bottom of the ninth but could not push across the tying run. Wing, Harrison and Withee each had two hits for Melanson. McCarthy and Kyle Lemelin led the offense with two hits each for Rowe.
ASLL Minor Baseball
AUBURN – Pat’s Pizza bats made a commotion in two recent Auburn Suburban Little League Minor Division baseball triumphs.
In a battle of local eateries, Pat’s Pizza defeated 99 Restaurant, 19-9. Ben Cassidy was 4-for-4 with two doubles and five runs scored for Pat’s. Carter Culleton, Patrick Dooley and Alex Breton added three hits, and Emmy Lashua helped the winning cause with an unassisted double play.
Tyler Libby and Jayson Taylor led the offense for 99 with three hits apiece. Nick Martinez had three RBIs.
Pat’s defeated Dillingham and Son, 20-14, in another slugfest. Cassidy and Breton had four hits apiece to pace Pat’s Pizza to an early double-digit lead before Mason and Ian Brushwein led a furious comeback for Dillingham and Son with three hits apiece. Jonah Crowell also had a triple.
ASLL softball
AUBURN – Corey Norcross pitched a no-hitter as Gee & Bee routed Pat’s Pizza, 11-1, in Auburn Suburban Little League girls’ softball.
Pat’s bounced back with a vengeance with three straight wins, including a no-hitter of its own. Pat’s trounced Pepsi, 11-1, on the strength of Brooke Reynolds’ gem. Brooke Bray and Kylie Martin shared the mound duties for Pepsi. Jordyn Reynodls was the lone repeat hitter.
Reynolds picked up the victory with eight strikeouts in a 13-5 victory over Crystal Springs. Tianna Harriman took the loss. Reynolds and Caitlyn Williams had three hits, Danielle Rock, Maranda Johnson and Brittney Williams slapped two hits, and Sidney Harris, Emma Samson, Jordyn Reynolds and Olivia Jensen each added one. Hannah Smith and Harriman had hits for Crystal Springs.
Brooke Reynolds fanned nine in a 14-7 upset of Gee & Bee. Carly Stubbs and Emily Jacques shared pitching duties for Gee & Bee.
Pat’s top hitters were Reynolds with two hits and Katie Williams and Brittney Williams each with one. For Gee & Bee, Carly Stubbs, Margaret Fogarty, Makayla Norcross and Emily Jacques each had a hit.
