LISBON FALLS – A Lisbon Falls man has been summoned to court after drug investigators say they found 44 marijuana plants growing in his apartment.
Jon Zerrlaut, 49, of 683 Lisbon St., was charged with cultivating marijuana. Police said the plants seized Tuesday night would have yielded two to three pounds of pot with a street value of up to $9,000.
On Tuesday night, Maine Drug Enforcement agents acted on a tip from their counterparts in Rockland and went to the Lisbon Street duplex with a warrant.
MDEA agents assisted Lisbon police with a search of the home and said they found an indoor marijuana cultivation operation in the basement of the building.
Officers found 19 marijuana seedlings known as clones, being cultivated in potting soil under fluorescent lights. Agents said they also found the budding tops from 25 mature marijuana plants, which had recently been harvested, and presently drying in the basement.
The root balls and stems from the harvested plants were still present in the basement, according to a statement from MDEA Supervisor Gerry Baril, along with three high-intensity grow lights used to flower the harvested plants.
