TROY, Vt. (AP) – Vermont State Police are investigating a report of an attempted assault on the Long Trail in Troy.

A female hiker reported that while she was sleeping in a lean-to early Saturday, she was attacked by an unknown male. The man was scared off when she said she had a weapon.

The suspect is described as 5-foot-10, slender with a muscular build, clean shaven and wearing a black hat, black pants and blue raincoat.
