Cape Breton singer and fiddler will perform
CARTHAGE – Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center will host Cape Breton singer-songwriter Buddy MacDonald with fiddler Rachel Davis Wednesday, June 10. The two will also play Thursday, June 11, at Lakeside Theatre in Rangeley.
Both concerts begin at 7 p.m. A preshow jam will be offered at 6:15 p.m. at Skye Theatre.
Over his 30-year career, MacDonald has traveled and entertained audiences throughout Canada, the United States, Germany, Scotland and the Scandinavian countries, performing as a solo act and in different combinations with other musicians from Cape Breton.
He has performed on stage with Natalie MacMaster, Howie Mac Donald, Ashley MacIssac, Dave MacIssac and John Allan Cameron. Since the Celtic Colours International Festival began 11 years ago, MacDonald has hosted the late night Festival Club and has performed with Scotland’s Dougie MacLean and Archie Fisher, Ireland’s Tommy Makem and Michael Black, and other artists from all over the world.
Davis is an award-winning 19-year-old fiddler also from Cape Breton. For the past four years, she has joined MacDonald on stage at festivals and Cape Breton events. She just wrapped up a recording session at Lakewind Studios for her first CD to be released in August.
