AUBURN – A Lewiston woman who claims she was injured using an adult product is suing the California company that made it.

The woman said in a complaint filed in Androscoggin County Superior Court that she suffered lacerations from a defective marital aid which had a metal wire protruding from the item’s casing.

Her attorney, Justin Leary, said she was hospitalized and suffered permanent injury as a result of using the product.

In the complaint, the woman said she bought the product from a Lewiston retailer in 2006. It was in a sealed package. The manufacturer, Doc Johnson Enterprises, failed to warn her about the potential dangers its product posed to consumers, the suit said.

She suffered personal injury and lost wages, incurred medical expenses and experienced pain, suffering and a loss of enjoyment of life, according to the suit filed by Leary. She expects future loss of wages, medical bills, pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment of life, the suit said.

The company breached its warranty of the fitness of the product, the woman claims in the suit. The company also was careless and negligent in its design, manufacture and inspection of the product, the suit said. It failed to warn customers about the potential dangers involved in using the product, the suit also said.

The woman’s husband also made a claim against the company, charging his wife’s injury caused him the loss of her “care, comfort and society,” the suit said.

The couple seeks a judgment to compensate them for damages, interest, costs and any other relief the court orders.

Efforts to reach the company Monday and Tuesday were unsuccessful.
